In 2025, a Shanghai-based company was sued by a Hong Kong company owned by African individuals in a Chinese court over a cross-border sales contract dispute. The Shanghai company then contacted Landing Law Offices, where Lawyer Larry Zhou and Sara Sun jointly handled the case.
The plaintiff, the Hong Kong company, claimed that the contract should be terminated and demanded that the Shanghai company "double" refund the deposit, totaling RMB 420000. They alleged that after receiving the deposit, the Shanghai company failed to fulfill its delivery obligations and went out of contact.

After accepting the case, our lawyers determined that there was a possibility for mediation, which could also save costs and resolve the dispute quickly for our client, the Shanghai company.
Therefore, before the trial, our legal team first conducted a comprehensive and in-depth legal analysis of the case, accurately grasping the key points and applicable laws. Based on this, we proactively engaged in multiple rounds of communication with the plaintiff, proposing a reasonable solution supported by solid facts and rigorous legal arguments. After several rounds of negotiation, we successfully convinced the plaintiff to accept the mediation agreement: the defendant would repay RMB 236000 in installments, nearly half the amount originally claimed by the plaintiff.
Throughout this process, our lawyers flexibly employed mediation strategies. Not only did we effectively avoid the risk of high compensation, but we also maximized the protection of our client's corporate reputation, achieving a win-win situation in terms of legal outcomes and commercial interests.
The client highly recognized the mediation result, stating that "the legal team resolved the crisis with professional negotiation skills and preserved the possibility for future cooperation."
